Another tweak that can make a difference in your surfing speed is TCP Optimizer from the folks at Speedguide Net. That is IF you have DSL or cable as I don't think the tweaks do much for dial-up.
I would also suggest you check out the "Shortcuts" menu on the left of the main page. Clicking on the TCP/IP Analyzer link will bring up what some of your current settings are along with some suggested improvements.
It's not all that geeky, honest. The TCP Optimizer is user-friendly.
