Did you remember?

Darnit, I saw it on the calendar the other day and made a mental note of it, but we know how that goes. Thank goodness I've still time to put it out on the porch and show some proper respect.

A BIG Hat Tip to Big Mouth. Oh, and the Red Queen, also. I had stopped by her place to copy her IP address for my template, saw the flag, but was in a hurry and didn't read the post and didn't connect. Some real brainpower you're witnessing here, geez...

I remembered, but mostly because it was on my calendar. I thought about a post but honestly wasn't really sure if anybody really cared about flag day.

I was surprised that AFN made no mention of it that I could see, and I watch my fair amount of TV.

Yes, I was surprised at sk's post, a little less so at yours.

I had my father put up a flagpole at my new house. I have a nice flag to run up it. I also have a nice battle flag I used to fly in VA, but suppose I'll just hang it in the garage. I'm less "in your face" than I used to be and Floridians are not particularly southerners anyway.

The last thing I'll mention is that I have an absentee pennant. A real one directly out of the skivvy waver's flag bag. On one of my later re-enlistments I told the CO that I already had flags, I wanted a CO's Absentee Pennant instead. He gave me one. Everyone laughed at that. I may press it in to use once I've retired.

I know you'll get on the web and find out about the absentee pennant, that's why I didn't tell you what it actually is.

Of course, I know. I don't have to google that one, Ed. Absentee Pennant - The Houston Astros have never won the National League pennant in the 45 years of their franchise. Hence, the Astro's pennant, it is considered absentee.

So, your commander was an Astros fan?
