GALVESTON, Texas -- President Bush yesterday gave House Majority Leader Tom DeLay his most public show of support to date, striding shoulder to shoulder with the Texas congressman across a tarmac to Air Force One in Houston, both men waving and smiling as photographers snapped away.
The president also singled out the congressman for praise in his opening remarks at a Social Security event in Galveston.
"I appreciate the leadership of Congressman Tom DeLay in working on important issues that matter to the country," said Mr. Bush, who credited the lawmaker with pushing energy and medical liability legislation through the House of Representatives.
