A much-improved clipboard, 2 of 'em, actually

I use the Windows clipboard quite a bit when surfing. It's a handy little program but it does have one flaw - only the last item you copied stays in the clipboard memory. Copy something newer and that other link, piece of text or piece of webpage that you previously copied is gone, forever.

The answer to that limitation is to use a clipboard manager or extension. Either will save all of your clippings for you.

One of the best I've found is the ClipMagic clipboard manager. You can copy stuff all day long and never have to worry about losing any of the data you copied. You just open up the ClipMagic history and retrieve it. ClipMagic will keep clippings permanently, plus you can edit them to make changes.

The interface is not particularly intuitive. But stick with for a bit and you'll soon realize that the Windows Clipboad you've used in the past is a dinosaur.

Download the freeware version at the ClipMagic website.

Oh, here's another one that I took for a road test and would use if I didn't have ClipMagic. This is an open-source (freeware) clipper that goes by the name of Ditto.

Actually, I like this a lot. I do a lot of cutting and pasting when I blog and even more at work when I am putting together lesson plans and tests from electronic copies of the tech manuals. Thanks for the heads up on this.

Yes, in your line of work I imagine you do a lot of that, Ed. Wish I'd had something similar when I was doing similar work with writing/editing pubs, regs, etc. many years ago.

I was surprised how many freeware pgms there were out there that replaced the lame Windows version.

I'll have to give that a look. There've been quite a few times I wished I could copy more than one URL at a time.

Again, there are a number of these out there on the Internet and at my favorite price - free!
