Keeping Santa safe from terrorists

Do you feel safer today than you did in 1995?

You should since the Feds have increased spending on homeland security from $9 billion in FY1995 to $68.5 billion for 2009.

Just a quick scan on the Internet finds that those funds have purchased high security items such as $18,000 for Segway scooters for the bomb squad in Santa Clara, Calif.; $30,000 in Lake County, Tenn., to buy a defibrillator to have on hand at high-school basketball games; $98,000 on training courses in Lenawee County, Mich, which no one bothered to attend; and a half a million dollars for North Pole, Alaska, for homeland-security rescue and communications equipment.
