It's time to render unto Ceasar, again

Well, I hate to bring it up but the tax filing deadline isn't that far away. Usually I purchase and use Tax Act software to prepare our Federal and State tax forms. It's reasonably priced, almost idiot-proof, and gets the job done.

For some time now Tax Act and several others have offered a free on-line version. However, for us, there was always some tax situation that disqualified us from using one of the free tax services. Usually along the lines of too much income (which hasn't been a problem since retiring!); capital gains or losses; sell a home or property; etc. But this year we don't have any of those encumbrances. So, I think I'm going to try one of the freebie sites.

The problem now is picking one out of the nineteen available.

Some sort of flat tax looks better all the time, doesn't it.

It certainly has appeal given the convoluted mess that the politicians have made of the present system. I doubt you & I will ever see it, though.

There are too many who make a living out of this tax maze, i.e., H&R Block, auditors, accountants, bookkeeper, lawyers, etc., etc., and etc.

Not to mention all the people the I.R.S. employs.

Yeah, I forgot about them and the Democrats have the majority of gov't employees in their back pocket as Democrat politicians love Big Government and you have to bureaucrats and paper-pushers in there running all those programs that make our daily lives such a joy.

Incidentally, after trying to avoid it I have finally gone to the word verification jumble on comments. Some anonymous slimeball put some tome on one of the comments and I decided that's that, no more.

I do hope he (or she) contracts some sort of debilitating and painful disease that results in a protracted, long and agonizing death. Or sumtin' like that.

Effing spammers, they need to be put behind bars for a long, long time.

Two words...FAIR TAX

The word verification says "vufiyt". Is that like "view fight"? Maybe it's a secret code for wrestling fans.

It's secret Google code, I believe.

I hated to do that as it's a pain sometime trying to discern the squiggly letters, especially for us old folk.

Did you mean Flat Tax, Dan? If so, it does have some appeal but unless there are provisions for all the special interests we'll never see it, I'm afraid.

We need to over ride those special interest people...But they could benefit from it too...Your comments are sadly true.
