They've 2 seasons - Winter & a brief warm spell in August

I was stationed in the Upper Peninsula of this state twice. There's a lot of truth to that list.

In fact, a true story - one of the older locals who worked with me on base told me once that he and his wife went south for a vacation but retuned early as the heat was terrible down there.

He was talking number 24. Seriously.

Never been in the upper peninsula, but have spent some nice time in a few of the mainland areas. Went sailing out of Alpena on ab 18 foot sailboat when the Coast Guard had small craft warnings out. Fortunately the guy at the helm had a lot more experience than I did.

Alpena, nice part of the state for outdoorsy stuff, Fish. And if I recall right the wind is ALWAYS blowing in Michigan.

Never been there either, but completely understood a number of the references. That's a bit disconcerting....

Oh, it's a nice enough state to look at and like I said lot's of water but the weather can S-U-C-K bigtime, plus the Michiganders can have a bit of an attitude, not all of 'em mind you, but just enough that I noticed and me just sitting there at the bar minding my own business, just me and my Ohio State ball cap wearing Air Force buddy trying to enjoy a nice, quiet beer. And hey, why give me grief just because I may have been overheard telling him that the best part of Michigan was under water.

Sheesh, get a grip you crazy Michiganians!
