Out there on the leading edge

Well, 25 years ago maybe. High tech from the Eighties.

I think the first computer I used at work was this Z-100 and then mid-80s we went to dumb terminals hooked to a Plexus P60 mini-computer that ran UNIX SysV.

Ah, the good ol' days... NOT! Slooooooow and underpowered. I do not want to return to those good ol' days.

Some random noticements:

Dad, being an electrical engineer, used to buy HeathKit color televisions (when being a color set was actually a selling point)and put them together over a couple of months on the dining room table.

How are those kids doing so well at Missile Command without even looking at the screen?

I remember using those giant printers with the form feed paper. As William Shakespeare once said, "They sucketh. Verily."

That teacher in the 3rd photo looks a tad too "70s porn" for my comfort.

And yes, I remember using the 5 1/2 in. floppy. They didn't fit into a pocket and were therefore doomed. One thing I did learn from them, though. If for any reason they refuse to eject on their own, yanking them out using a pair of pliers and brute force turns out to be poor remedy. Really. They look at you like you're STUPID!

And in ten years or so we'll look back on today's computer technology and get a laugh at how antiquated it was.

Tractor feed I think is what it was called.

Yeah, he resembles John Holmes or whatever his name was. Holmes died of AIDs, I think I read somewhere along the way. Gee, imagine that.

Technological knowledge is doubling in just over three years today. Simply put, everything mankind has learned since the first stone axe up through today, we'll learn that much in just over three years. No way to keep up with it all, but what a fun time to be alive.

Makes your head spin at times, though, all this new-fangled stuff!

Yep, I don't doubt that, Fish. Pay no heed to Burt, that's my alter ego and I furgot I was signed in as him.
