I didn't know that

Parts of Florida are farther west than parts of Wisconsin.

One tablespoon of honey is the life's work of twelve bees.

The city of Cincinnati has a law prohibiting discrimination against “Appalachian Americans.” [I still wouldn't live there]

Canola oil is just Canadian rapeseed oil (but that sounds a little violent to cook with). [I knew that one]

Those and other GUF can be found at Dr. Bromley's Generally Useless Facts website.

My kind of website. If it's important I've already forgotten it, but if it's a piece of worthless trivia it will stay with me to the grave. For instance, for some reason in the late fifties I memorized the Jabberwocky poem by Lewis Carrol. I can still recite it but no one wants to listen.

Twas brillig and the slithey toves....

Sorry, Fish, but I'm going to have to side with them on that one. :-)

I didn't know that about western florida. I know I was surprised at how far south Illinois actually went. Well, the southern end of it, anyway.

Yeah, it's pretty surprising how southern that southern bit is. They used to even mine a fair amount of coal over there in south Illinois. It's really not a bad state once you get south of I-70
