Stop! Don't buy that extended warranty.

How about this consumer factoid?

This holiday season, shoppers are expected to spend a whopping $1.6 billion on extended warranties for laptops, flat-screen TVs, other electronics, and appliances.

I'll confess that I have fallen for it once or twice during my early consuming years. But, thank goodness, my frugal nature kicked in and I began to question the need for that type of warranty.

The folks at Consumer Reports validate my long-ago decision to tell pushy salespeople that it's, "Thank you, but no thank you!"
