Way down in the mines

Coal mining - a necessary, but dangerous endeavor.

My mother told me that the one good thing about the Depression was that it forced her Dad and brother to leave the mines in Mingo Co., WV and go find some other line of work. They did and didn't ever return to mining. She was very glad of that.

Anyway, I haven't commented on the Sago disaster as there are others (Kilo and the Red Queen) who do that work and have a much better perspective and appreciation of the dangers than I ever could.

But still, all of us can ask God to bless and comfort the families of the men who perished and to ask Him to especially be with the sole survivor, Randal McCloy.
