Looking for that ancestor(s) that fought in the Civil War (aka The War Between the States)? Here's a excellent site from the Nat'l Park Svc

A number of my ancestors were in the 14th Kentucky Infantry which played a key role in the Battle of Kolb's Farm, plus many other actions and campaigns.

I'm having a harder time verifying if there were any ancestors in the cause of the Confederacy. My fraternal roots spring from the Asheville area of North Carolina, but tracking their activities during the war has not been as easy as was discovering the Union ancestors in the maternal branch of my genealogy.
