Ellas Bates. I just rediscovered his "You can't judge a book by looking at its cover" (the single version).

Ellas does his thing on that rectangular guitar and the track has one of the best bass riffs I've heard in a rock 'n roll song. Plus, only with "The Originator" would you get idiophones in a rock song.
