There's a number of places within easy driving distance that are on the go-visit list. One such place is Lynch, Kentucky.
Lynch probably has a population of about 1000 people today, if that many. But, back in 1917 it was the largest coal camp in the world with a population of 10,000.
I've mining in my heritage, so there's a subtle pull there to go see how the grandparents lived in those times and in those conditions. Kind of hard to explain, but it's there.
