Trashing the First

McCain-Feingold Act. The most pie-in-the-sky, but sorry piece of legislation foisted on the American people since the Volstead Act. Mitch McConnell, the senior Senator from my state, led the fight in opposing it. However, he lost when the Supreme Geriatrics branch of government upheld the law as consitutional. So, accept it as the will of people and get on with your life, right?

Wrongo! my little 501(c)(4) groupie.

It now appears that McCain-Feingold wasn't so much the will of the people, but more the will of some big-money leftists and one big-money group in particular, the Pew Charitable Trust. Check out the Democracy Project for all the details. (Hat Tip: Red State)
