Seems I remember them (just a few) standing around a mini-bus, in the rain, holding some signs with that indecipherable Japanese lettering, one or two bored cops in a police car on the other side of the 4 lane (it was a 4 lane, I think). Woulda been 'bout 1988? We were going over to the other Tokyo airport and then onto Okinawa. What's the name of that other airport? I've forgotten.

That was the trip when I thought I had lost my Gov't passport. Luckily had my personal one as backup. Got home and found it had fallen into this invisible sleeve in my briefcase that I didn't even know existed.

That was in my drinking days, Edward. I had some strange experiences in those times. I don't miss 'em, either. :-)Gun Trashhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10312012435197709902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10615369.post-1118773050889288382005-06-14T14:17:00.000-04:002005-06-14T14:17:00.000-04:00I check in early and jockey for an aisle seat. Since I am a frequent traveller, and nearly all of my flights are international (6 hours is the shortest, 13-18 hours to the west or east coasts)it is important I do not get middle seats.

The gov't ticketing agency only looks at price. Once they got me on a full flight from Washington's Reagan Airport all the way to Tokyo Narita in a coach class middle seat. That truly SUCKED.

EdRamblin' Edhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06526791657037100123noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10615369.post-1118750708873014072005-06-14T08:05:00.000-04:002005-06-14T08:05:00.000-04:00I avoid that middle seat also, Anon, if the air ca...I avoid that middle seat also, Anon, if the air carrier has something else.

I'm like you, it's been a few years since I rode the "dog", but I think you're right - they do only have 2 seats, an aisle, then 2 more seats. I stand corrected.

If interested, here's a site, packed full of info on that silver dog.Gun Trashhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10312012435197709902noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-10615369.post-1118749632620675512005-06-14T07:47:00.000-04:002005-06-14T07:47:00.000-04:00Yessir, I do not like that seat either. Specially on planes as those seats are so narrow and although I don't think I'm that wide, it's always a tight fit when I get that seat, which I try to avoid.

But I think the Hound only has two seats across. Been a few years since I rode one so could be wrong.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
